What services does OUTS offer?
OUTS provides non-emergency transportation services to the
general public through our Demand Response or Dial-a-ride
program and to human services agency clients through contract
services. OUTS provides transportation for medical appointments,
employment transportation and general purpose transportation.
What is Demand Response or Dial-a-Ride?
Demand Response or Dial-a-Ride is a fare-assistance transportation
program sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Transportation
open to the general public of Onslow County. 
Who can Ride?
Anyone in Onslow County requiring transportation can ride.
Some programs have different eligibility guidelines depending
upon the funding sources; therefore some funding sources
require an application to be approved before one can ride.
When can I ride?
OUTS hours of operation is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday; however, the earliest OUTS can get you to
your destination is 7:00 a.m. and the latest pickup time
is 9:00 p.m. Depending upon where you live in the county
determines the time you need to be ready. Call 346-2998 for

of operation: 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
How do I schedule a ride?
To request transportation services, call OUTS office (910)
346-2998 or TTD 1-800-735-2962 or 1-800-735-8262 voice between
the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
OUTS schedules appointment 7 days in advance but the appointment
must be made by 10:30 a.m. the day before the needed transportation;
however, some trips are subject to availability. Ride requests
are not taken during the weekend nor are they taken by the
answering service. If you request a ride on Monday you must
call prior to 10:30 a.m. the preceding Friday.
What information do I need?
When scheduling transportation you will need to provide
the following information when you call to schedule your
trip:
Your name
Your address
Your destination
Your destination address
Your telephone number
Your return trip information
Any special requirements (child seat, wheel chair, etc.)
The name, relationship and age of anyone traveling with you
If any of this information cannot be provided, transportation
cannot be scheduled.

How do I cancel a ride?
If you must cancel a scheduled trip, please notify OUTS
as soon as possible, but at least two hours before the needed
transportation. If you fail to cancel your transportation
you will receive a no-show, and depending upon the funding
source no shows may jeopardize your transportation eligibility.
Early notification will allow OUTS to provide transportation
to others.
How much does it cost?
Depending
upon where you live in the county determines your fare for
the trip either $1.00 or $3.00-$4.00 for a oneway trip. When
you call and schedule your transportation, you will be given
the correct fare. You must have the exact fare for the one-way
trip. The drivers do not carry change. You may purchase
tickets from OUTS and arrangements can be made by calling
